Grounds Maintenance Operative / Tractor Driver / Gardener / Grave Digger

  • Based at Frankby Cemetery
  • 12 month fixed-term contract
  • 36 hours per week

About the Role:

We are looking for a GMO Operative to join the grave digging team based at Frankby Cemetery, who undertake all burial duties and grounds maintenance for this site to include a full range of burial duties and grounds maintenance operations, to help provide an excellent service for local people.  You will help implement the Wirral Parks Standard, which will involve working with staff, Friends Groups, service-users and external organisations.

About the Candidate:

Ideally, you will have experience in the operations of locating, digging and preparing a grave for funeral and the required backfilling after the burial. You will also have experience of grounds maintenance operations including the use of handheld, pedestrian and ride on grass cutting equipment.

A full current driving licence is required to carry out this role.

As well as being able to carry out a full range of cemetery duties, it would be desirable if you were skilled in at least one of the following:

  • Use of grave mechanical excavating equipment and/or dumper
  • Arboriculture (including the use of chippers)
  • PA1/PA2 Pesticide Certificate Trailer licence
