Family Group Conferencing Team Leader

Children’s Services are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to lead our Family Group Conferencing (FGC) team. Family Group Conferencing is founded on the principle that children thrive best when they grow up within their own families and communities. We believe families themselves are best placed to identify how they can be supported to achieve this. By promoting family-led decision-making, we aim to reduce the need for statutory intervention and empower families to make sustainable changes to their lives.

About the Role:

As our FGC Team Leader, you will oversee the operational delivery and continuous improvement of the FGC service, managing a skilled team of FGC coordinators. Working closely with practitioners in Early Help and Children’s Social Care, ensuring the voices of children, young people, and families are heard and acted upon.

You will contribute to the development and review of FGC policies and procedures, using data and feedback to monitor service effectiveness and drive improvements. You will foster a culture of respect, partnership, and inclusion, enabling families to develop their own solutions and access the support they need.

About the Candidate:

We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of Family Group Conferencing and its ethos, with proven experience in this field.

The successful candidate will have management experience within safeguarding, whether in early help or statutory services, with knowledge of current systems and processes within Wirral Children’s Services.

Above all, you will be committed to empowering families and achieving positive outcomes for children.
