Interim opportunity for 6 months

Are you an inspiring senior leader ready to shape the future of our Borough? We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Capital Programmes and Assets to lead one of the Council’s most strategically important portfolios—driving our capital investment, transforming our estate, and ensuring our assets deliver maximum value for residents, partners, and communities.

This is a unique opportunity to take a pivotal role in delivering high‑quality, sustainable development across a diverse and ambitious organisation.

About the role

As a key member of the Council’s Leadership Team, you will provide strategic direction, governance, and oversight across all capital programmes, property, estates, and schools assets. You will ensure that our capital investments align with corporate priorities, support financial sustainability, and meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.

You will lead major regeneration schemes, oversee a substantial schools portfolio, and drive long-term asset management strategies that shape how our residents live, learn, work, and access services.

About you

You will be a credible, influential and commercially minded leader with:

  • Significant experience leading large-scale capital, property or asset management services within complex organisations.
  • Proven success delivering major programmes in public and/or private sectors.
  • Strong political awareness and a track record of effective partnership working.
  • The ability to inspire teams with a compelling vision of the future.

You will thrive in a fast-paced, high-profile environment and bring the drive, integrity and leadership behaviours expected of our Leaders.

As part of our Talent Strategy, we’re committed to strengthening opportunities for our people to learn, grow, progress and thrive. For many of you, this may be preparing and applying for your next role with us, and we're passionate about ensuring you feel supported throughout your internal recruitment experience.
