Wirral Council’s Central Advice and Duty Team (CADT) is the frontline “one-stop” point of contact for Adult Social Care, handling telephone referrals, safeguarding concerns, Mental Health Act enquiries, and information from a range of health and care partners. We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Specialist Advisor to join our busy team and help ensure residents, families, and professionals receive the right advice and support at the right time.

About the Role

As a CADT Specialist Advisor, you will be one of the first points of contact for adults aged 18 and over who need support, as well as for the professionals and family members contacting on their behalf. Duties will include the following: -

  • Handle a wide range of telephone referrals, including sensitive or complex situations.
  • Gather and accurately record detailed information using electronic client systems such as Liquid Logic.
  • Assess the needs of callers, provide clear information and signposting, and make sound judgements on next steps.
  • Manage incoming referrals including safeguarding concerns, DoLS requests, Police VPRF1 forms, ERISS notifications, and CHC/MDT information.
  • Work within clear procedures and the principles of the Care Act (2014).
  • Support the smooth running of the service through accurate data entry, good time management, and effective prioritisation.

This is a fast-paced, high-impact role at the heart of Adult Social Care’s front door, where your work directly contributes to keeping vulnerable adults safe and supported.

About the candidate:

The successful candidate will be someone who:

  • Communicates clearly, confidently, and compassionately—especially over the phone.
  • Can sensitively handle confidential, complex, and sometimes challenging situations with professionalism and good judgement.
  • Has strong IT skills and can quickly learn new systems, including electronic client databases.
  • Is highly organised, able to prioritise workload, and works well under pressure without compromising accuracy.
  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a supportive team.
  • Demonstrates understanding of data protection, confidentiality, and equality of opportunity.
  • Brings excellent customer service experience, ideally within a telephone-based or public-facing setting.
