We are looking for an enthusiastic Environmental Services Officer to join our Waste & Environment Delivery Services team on a 2-year fixed-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of essential environmental services across Wirral.

Working as part of a collaborative and community-focused team, you will help ensure our neighbourhoods are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Working closely with residents, partners, and colleagues in response to environmental issues, the post holder will support service delivery and contribute to wider initiatives that encourage positive environmental behaviours.

About the Role:

This is a varied role with a strong focus on problem-solving, partnership working, and improving outcomes for our communities. Key duties include investigating complaints and enquiries, providing advice guidance and supervision to behaviour change team members, providing waste management advice to residents, monitoring contractor compliance, supporting audits, performance monitoring and procurement activity. The post holder will represent the service at community meetings and work as part of a wider team to maintain high standards of environmental quality across the borough.

About You:

We are seeking someone who is passionate about environmental quality and public service. You will be a confident communicator, able to engage effectively with a wide range of people. You will be organised, proactive, and capable of managing a varied workload. You will bring a solutions‑focused mindset, good judgement, and strong attention to detail. You should feel comfortable working both independently and as part of a team and be resilient and adaptable in response to changing priorities.

You will also bring:

  • Relevant experience or a strong interest in environmental, operational, or community‑based services
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer‑focused approach
  • The ability to build positive working relationships
